Holiday charity drive for Rescue Mission a success

ROANOKE, VA (March 3, 2003) – The Wallace Agency’s 2002 holiday charity drive on behalf of the Roanoke Rescue Mission was a resounding success. In response to the agency’s request for donations, we received and delivered several hundred pairs of socks and shoes, as well as three pick-up-truck-sized loads of coats, pants, sweaters and other warm winter clothing to the mission’s donation center. Several clients and friends also made cash donations.

We were fortunate enough to get a bit of media coverage, including a morning segment with Marya Jones on WDBJ-7 Sunday Morning and a mention in Kathy Lu’s giving column in The Roanoke Times, which aided in getting the word out as well. In fact, the Troutville Baptist Church made a substantial donation as a result of the Channel 7 spot.

We are sincerely grateful to our clients, friends, the media and the community-at-large for their generous contributions of clothing and money that will be used to assist those in need.

Thank you, and best wishes for a successful 2003.
