The Wallace Agency tops list of award winners at 2002 ADDY® Awards

ROANOKE, VA (February 25, 2003) – The Wallace Agency (TWA) topped the list of award winners at the 2002 ADDY Awards, held Saturday, February 22 at Jefferson Center’s Fitzpatrick Hall. The annual competition is the advertising industry’s largest, and those companies winning top honors will automatically advance to a District competition, with the potential to go all the way to the National level. Almost half of the firm’s entries were award winners, and TWA nearly swept some categories, such as Advertising for the Arts (winning 8 out of 10 awards presented) and Logo, Trademark or Corporate Symbol Design (winning 4 out of 7 awards presented). Three websites designed by the agency also received awards in the competition.

“I feel like we really turned a corner this year,” says Katie Wallace Wetherington, the agency’s president. “We have worked extremely hard over the course of the last 12 to 18 months to assemble a team of top-notch creative and account professionals, the result of which is evident in the numbers you see here,” she adds.

In fact, The Wallace Agency collected more awards than any other agency in all of Central and Western Virginia, including 12 Gold and 16 Silver ADDYs in categories as diverse as Advertising for Consumer Magazines, Business-To-Business Direct Mail Campaign and Interactive Design.

Some of the more exciting wins for TWA include 3 Gold awards in the Collateral Materials category, including best 4-color brochure for Business Solutions, 2 Gold awards in Industry Self-Promotion, including best website for thewallaceagency.com and 2 Gold awards in Advertising for the Arts, including best campaign for the Art Museum of Western Virginia Ice Gala campaign.

“Each year the competition seems to get more intense,” says TWA’s creative director Jeff Kennard. “With this year’s awards, not only are we able to celebrate our own success, but we’ve also raised the bar for next year,” he says.
