| The Wallace Agency helps Rescue Mission sock-up for long cold winter Firm encourages clients, associates, friends to donate warm winter clothing ROANOKE, VA (December 20, 2002) In lieu of sending gifts to its clients this holiday season, The Wallace Agency, a Roanoke-based advertising agency, will be donating brand new socks for men, women and children to the Roanoke Rescue Mission. We wanted to do something different for the holidays this year to acknowledge how much we appreciate our clients business while at the same time giving something back to the community, explains Katie Wallace Wetherington, agency president. Using a poster-style format, the firms holiday card encourages recipients to put themselves in someone elses shoes this winter and help the areas homeless stay warm by donating new socks, hats, gloves, long underwear and other warm winter clothing to the Rescue Mission. We designed the poster so that recipients can hang it up their office or on the office bulletin board and hopefully motivate their co-workers to also make a contribution, says Creative Director Jeff Kennard. At a time of year when so much emphasis is placed on the giving and receiving of gifts, the agencys employees were inspired by the old adage that it is better to give than to receive and collectively agreed that a donation to the Rescue Mission was in order. Basically, the poster uses the same headline to tell two very different stories, says John Griessmayer, the agencys copywriter and associate creative director. We were really drawn to the idea that something so mundane to one person might mean the world to someone else. For more information or to make a donation, please contact The Wallace Agency at (540) 343-7411 or the Roanoke Rescue Mission at (540) 343-7227. Click here to download a pdf of the poster |
